I am so terrible! We have done some fun things this week and I have not taken a single picture!
On Monday, the kids and I went with playgroup to the Austin Science and Nature Center. It was a lot of fun. They had a great big sand pit with dinosaur bones for the kids to dig out. Then they had some rehabilitated local animals like coyotes, bobcats, foxes, etc. The kids really enjoyed it and it got them excited about going to the zoo again. But the best part was the lab/exhibit area. Brianna and Ethan loved looking at all of the skeletons of different animals, feeling the snake skins, the butterfly and insect exhibits, looking through the microscopes at different subjects from tree rings to fleas. They asked question after question. Especially Brianna. She is growing so fast and is getting so curious! And she is remembering and applying the information too! I love it!
After the Science Center, we went to the Metzer City Pool which is really a waterpark for small kids. Beach front access with water no more than 3'8". Water slides for toddler to adult, Mini lazy river, sprinklers, etc. Its great and cheap! They had a ball. Brianna is hitting another milestone exhibited there... she has figured out swimming and has become a fish! She loves going under, jumping, diving and even braved the big slide! They had a lot of fun, we ate pizza, and froze (it was still a little cool surprisingly for June!).
Today Brian and I went on a trip to the San Antonio Temple long overdue and much needed. It was nice to spend the day together with no kids. It was a record session with 54 people... and they thought they would never fill 3 Wed morning sessions! We were packed like sardines! But it was great. We bought Brianna her first combo scripture and put her name on it and got Ethan a toy Nephi. The kids spent the day with Taylor swimming and watching movies.
After coming home we took the kids to spend their gift cards and coupons at Build A Bear. Brianna had already figured out before we left that she wanted a hula outfit and a new pair of panties and Ethan had decided on Sunglasses and found a fishing suit once there. They love going there and looking at all the clothes and accessories and washing and dressing their bears. That place sure has it figured out! We got out of there spending only $3 which I am sure will never happen again! But they loved it so that is what is important. Afterwards we went to the little playscape accross the way. Ethan was a riot pushing his bear around in the stroller and parking it on the wing of the plane while he drove it. Then driving it around as fast as he could making car and whoosing noises. He was actng out something... making hand actions, tying something around his neck (a cape maybe), fighting off invisible foes and making the greatest faces! If only I had a camera! They were so tired tonight!
My favorite thing of the day though was when were were glancing at some shoes to find Brianna some play tennies. I found a great pair of converse high tops... pink and black and white plaid, High School Musical, with white ribbon laces and hot pink lining. I thought they were great (and of course on clearance so... cheap!!!). At first Brianna just stared at them and then finally... "They are freakin me out!" Wow! She's too young for that! Ha! She did finally come back and say she liked them though, so maybe mom is not too weird yet.
I must get a small camera for my purse so I don't miss some of these great things again!
