Video producer debut!

Driving home from Mom's yesterday we got a glimpse into a couple of career options for our kids....

YouTube Video

Ethan "jammed" with his mp3 player for a couple hours... Head boppin' and air guitar jammin' and drums bangin'! Lead vocals too. Rockstar? Or at least some type of musician...

YouTube Video

Brianna filmed a couple of movies complete with script writing and acting (with her feet! Creativity!) and voice inflection... Film producer?

Monopoly mogul

Ethan loves to play games... Board games, computer games, wii games... Whatever! When friends or Brianna are not here, Ethan plays with his imaginary friend Marion. Today it has been UNO and jr. Monopoly. I have never seen anyone play Monopoly by themselves!

Suction cup shoes

Ethan was walking through the room with heavy slow footsteps... When he caught us watching him he revealed that he was pretending he was going to his friends house but he had to walk slow because he had suction cup shoes and they were sticking to the floor. Then he made his way up the stairs only to come flying down a few seconds later making sounds pausing only to tell me now he was spiderman and was shooting webs and flying on them...!!!! Oh the mind of a 4 year old boy! Never a dull moment!

First Day of First Grade

Brianna was both nervous and excited about starting first grade this year. She hardly slept at all and came in 3 times to tell me to remember that she had school tomorrow. Of course I did not sleep either! She is taking after me in the respect that we cannot sleep the night before anything remotely important.

She had a great day her first day. She really likes her teacher Mrs. Gilbert. And of course, it did not hurt that her best friend Audrey Chambers was in class with her. They were jumping up and down with excitement when they found out. Here are a few pics to show off her style she picked out for the first day (hearts on shirt color change and note the pink hair!) along with a poem she brought home from school.

My First Day of School
See me skip.
See me run.
I'm going to school
Like everyone!
See me smile.
See me grin.
When the bell rings,
I walk in.
See me work.
See me play.
I'm in the first grade,
My first day!

Uh oh!

We were having dinner at Aunt Carol jester's tonight. Brianna was working on her second ear of Olathe sweet corn when she comes runnin' over"Uh oh!". It took a second to figure out she was trying to tell me that she lost her tooth! We searched and searched in her corn and plate but never found it! She is writing a letter to the tooth fairy right now to tell her she is sorry she swallowed the tooth but please leave her money anyway!

Happy Fourth

I am nervously watching my kids do fireworks... When do you turn from the excited participater to the scared voyeur? I couldn't believe it when I looked down from the deck to see my 4 year old holding a roman candle! No wonder they were sneaking in the back door when Uncle James brought them back from watching fireworks at the lake!

Curly top

I have a new toy! An awesome curling iron that curls hair in seconds and the curls stay all day. It has 3 sizes for all kinds of possibilities and I am selling all my friends on it. My favorite style has to be Brianna's Shirley Temple look:

Big enough to cry!

Today Taylor, Jasmine and I took the kids to see Toy Story 3 in 3D. They were so excited! It was a day for firsts... First time at the big theater (no booster seats required like at the $1 theater)... First time for 3d... And first time for Brianna to cry at a movie! She is getting so big. I consider it a milestone when she understands a movie enough to cry! (of course Mommy cried too... ;( )

Swim lessons

The kids have been doing swim lessons this week and last week. Brianna is already a fish and swims on bottom, jumps in, handstands, and flips. Ethan would not put his face in the water at all. I was not sure if swim class was going to be a worthwhile investment. But.... It is!

The very first day they had Ethan putting his face in the water! How many times have I coaxed and begged him and they got him the first try! I am sure having 2 friends (Aiden and Avery) there helped. So we will keep working on his monster arms and getting more comfy in the water and hopefully he will be swimming under water by the end of the summer!

Brianna has been learning all kinds of strokes- backstroke, frontstroke, "chicken airplane soldier". She is not perfect, but she has thetechnique down so with a little practice she willbe swimming like a pro!

What a difference 2weeks can make!

Dino Pit

Ethan's playgroup took a trip down to the Dino pit at Zilker Park. They have a huge sand pit with Dino bones buried for the kids to excavate. Ethan loves it. He got the most fun out of the dinosaur foot he found.

Then he and his buddy Aiden looked at all of the animals they have there that have been rescued or are endangered. Ethan's favorite was the bobcat!

IHOP

Brian took the kids to Ihop last night for the first time. Ethan had a chocolate funny face and Brianna had Baby Cakes which was a short stack of silver dollar pancakes. They loved it and I am sure it will become one of their favorites.

Of course the best part was when they were leaving and Ethan asked," What is this place again?"
Dad replied, "IHOP".
Ethan laughed and said, "Are you sure it is not IJUMP?"
Classic Ethan!

First swim of the year

The kids were anxious to get I the water. Ethan would barely leave the first step because he was so cold! Mom and Dad were too smart to get in.

Cake Boss

Brianna heard that Aunt Kim's Birthday was tomorrow and had to make her a cake with her new cake decorating station. She did a great job though I looking forward to a time when she needs a little less help from Mom!
